The Japanese pocket knife Higonokami

The Higonokami was created in 1896 by Japanese blacksmiths looking for a commercial substitute for samurai swords.
It is an all-purpose folding knife that has been widely used in Japan since then. It is generally used for woodworking, pencil sharpening, fishing, outdoor activities and many other situations.

Masculine aesthetics

Large 21 cm Higonokami knife, with black sheath.

The blade offers excellent durability and the appearance of this higonokami will patina over time.
Its minimalist design and black color make this knife chic and elegant. It will find its place both at the campsite and on a desk.

The 9.2 cm blade is suitable for all hands, especially men and people with large hands, unlike smaller higonokamis.

Perfect original packaging for gifting

Packaged with Banshu fabric, produced in the same region, and in a pretty paper box.

Blade durability:

The 本割込 (Hon-wari-komi) blade is made sharp by sandwiching hard steel (hagane) and soft iron, and also has the toughness and durability of a blade that cannot be achieved with hard steel alone.

The blade may oxidize if it remains in prolonged contact with a humid environment. It should therefore be wiped after use and, if necessary, occasionally coated with camellia or olive oil.

Length : 210 mm (blade & handle)

Banshu hamono

Long ago, the hardware industry in an area known as Banshu (southwest of Hyogo Prefecture) is said to have begun manufacturing razors as early as the 18th century. For around 250 years, different models have been created to meet customer needs. The craftsmen themselves even responded to requests to resharpen the blades they had made. It is thanks to this special relationship that the blades can be used for a lifetime.
