The Kuromoji (name of tree in the Lauraceae family) is recognized as the best material for making quality picks thanks to its antiviral properties (in addition the branches and leaves are also consumed in the form of kuromoji tea). 

This product was made entirely in Japan, from cutting the raw wood to the final handmade size.
Due to the influx of foreign products and the widespread use of plastic, this traditional craft is now very rare.
